Dr. Elnaz Afousi

Ph D, LPC Associate

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate with a Ph.D. in Couples and Family Therapy currently under the supervision of supervised by Dr. Dorothy Florian-Lacy Ed.D, LPC-S. I am passionate about supporting individuals, couples and families as they navigate daily life challenges. My experience includes but is not limited to working with clients that are challenged by ADHD, anxiety, depression, and relational issues. As a therapist, I am committed to guiding clients toward greater self-awareness and self-mastery, empowering them to move through life with intention, resilience, and a deeper sense of purpose. My goal is to help clients gain clarity and uncover their strengths to move consciously toward the meaningful changes they wish to create.

My approach is empathic, supportive and collaborative, aiming to guide clients towards the path that resonates and is authentic for them. I utilize an integrative style drawing from evidence-based practices such as Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, mindfulness-based practices, and relational approaches. This style allows me to meet clients where they are, while also holding space for them to explore the patterns, narratives, and beliefs that influence their growth and personal development.

As a first-generation American raised in a multicultural family, I bring a unique appreciation for the ways culture and identity shape our experiences. These experiences shape my commitment to providing a supportive, inclusive environment where every client feels seen, understood, and valued. I am bilingual in English and Farsi and have experience working with immigrants and first-generation individuals as they navigate cultural adjustment, identity, intergenerational family dynamics, and belonging.

Above all, I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore emotions, learn skills and strategies that will ultimately uncover strengths as well as develop resilience.

I believe seeking support is a courageous step, and I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward wellness and growth.
